ABSTRACT

Wind, a Massachusetts coastal offshore farm delayed by environmental permitting and public protest, no developments currently exist. However, several developments are in planning (e.g. Delaware, Rhode Island, Ohio, etc.) for the East Coast and Great Lakes regions (Musial & Ram 2006). Additionally, research and development of tidal, wave, and current ocean energy conversion devices (ECDs) is underway. As experience with offshore wind and ocean ECDs increases, developments will tend to shift from fixed to floating structures to capture greater resource potential in deeper waters.
