ABSTRACT

Wastewater treatment processes that incorporate carriers for support of bioÞlms are commonly referred to as Þxed Þlm processes and include trickling Þlters (TFs), rotating biological contactors (RBCs), biological aerated Þlters (BAFs) and other hybrid processes. Relatively little information is available to describe the emissions of VOCs from Þxed Þlm processes. This chapter describes work that has been conducted to assess VOC emissions from RBCs and TFs.
