ABSTRACT

Let us first discuss the results obtained in the capillary rise experiments. Fig. 20 shows the obtained time dependencies of the meniscus position, H, for syntamide-5 surfactant solution in vertically oriented capillaries. Two upper curves, 1 and 2, show in a larger scale the results obtained during the first hour of observation. The lower curves 1 and 2 represent the results obtained during the complete time of the experiment, up to 5 days. The linear dependence of H values on √t corresponds to the constant value of K=H/√t=2.36×10−3 cm/s1/2 (curve 1) and K=1.3×10−3 cm/s1/2 (curve 2). These values are close to those calculated from curve 2 (Fig. 18) for the same bulk solution concentration of syntamide-5, C0=0.1%. This gives grounds for supposing that the same mechanism of penetration was operating in both cases.
