ABSTRACT
The knowledge of the direction and velocity of flows of gases, including mine air, through abandoned workings, in particular gobs and sealed fire fields, excluded from the ventilation system as well as through rock fissures is very important in preventing spontaneous heating of coal and resultant fire hazard in collieries.
