ABSTRACT

Prostate cancer is increasing in incidence as the general health of the population improves and people are tending to live longer. Prostate cancer is the most common tumour in men over 60 years old, and 80% of men aged 80 years old have it, although they may not be aware of it nor may it be of any clinical significance. This is because prostate cancer is the slowest growing solid malignancy, and so many patients die with it rather than from it.
