ABSTRACT
Medical management of Parkinson’s disease (PD) has long-term limitations. Fifty percent of PD patients who are treated with levodopa develop motor complications (fluctuations and dyskinesias) after 5 years of therapy (1). In addition, many patients develop disabling symptoms such as dementia or imbalance, for which medical therapy provides little or no benefit.
