ABSTRACT

To date, primary small intestinal laparoscopic surgery has been uncommon and the references in the literature are frequently limited to case reports regarding specific small bowel pathology. Few laparoscopic surgical texts or monographs adequately delineate specific small bowel pathology and the appropriate laparoscopic treatment modalities. These subjects are usually included in the discussion of the large intestine or within the chapters dedicated to emergent laparoscopic procedures. Consequently, there is little available information that has been derived from systematic studies regarding the complications from primary small bowel procedures.
