ABSTRACT
Oval hollow section (OHS) is one of the new sections used in steel structure constructions.Typical steel sections such as I-section, channel section, circular hollow section and rectangular hollow section are used in various structures. However, new sections are being developedwith the requirements on both the efficiency and aesthetics. The geometry of the OHS combined with its aesthetic appearance makes it an exciting choice for architects. Besides, it has the advantage of different major and minor axes properties. Gardner & Ministro (2005) reported some applications of oval hollow sections in structural engineering projects.
