ABSTRACT

Following a three tier testing protocol, a total of 56,180 samples were analysed using Arsenator Field Test Kit, UV Spectrophotometer and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Results of the analytical procedure were then integrated into a ArcGIS platform using which the arsenic distribution maps were prepared. To rule out any ambiguity, only those sources, out of the 56,180 sources tested, for which precise GPS coordinates were available was used for preparation of the arsenic distribution maps, with WHO limits of 10 ppb and BIS guidelines values of 50 ppb as the drinking water As concentration limits. The remaining areas of the state of Assam still await further screening.
