ABSTRACT

There are over 1,000 MW of operational utility photovoltaic (PV) plants in operation in the US. The five largest plants are detailed in Table 14.1. The largest PV projects currently in operation will soon be dwarfed by the projects under construction and nearing completion, as many of these are over 300 MW. Four of the five largest projects in operation in the US are in the US Southwest and West, due to superior solar resource and more aggressive Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS). The one exception is the Long Island Solar Farm, which is located in an area with high electricity rates.
