ABSTRACT

The impetus to capture and eventually store GHG emissions on a global scale implies many unique technical challenges. It also implies a tremendous change in how global economic and industrial systems function and enacting global change has never proved a simple task. As such, the story leading up to today’s strong focus on carbon capture and storage/sequestration (CCS) as an environmental solution is deeply rooted in scientifi c, economic, and political realities, trends, and beliefs.
