ABSTRACT

Although several means of transport are possible (truck, train18, offshore/onshore pipeline, ship), pipelines and ships are the only realistic transport solutions for largescale CCS deployment. Because of the large volume occupied by CO2 in the gaseous state (due to low CO2 density), it is not favored for transport because very large facilities must be constructed to contain it. CO2 transport by pipeline is feasible for dense-phase CO2 (density greater than 700 kg/m3). Under these conditions, CO2 can be transported as a single-phase.
