ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This work proposes a model to reduce epistemic uncertainty in the quantification of the probability of failure of the gates of a spillway, integrating the ISO 9001 quality process approach with the model for risk analysis and assessment, in particular the component referred to system response to a initiator or initiating event, using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to determine the reliability of the spillway. The model is constructed on the basis of a Risk Analysis Project of the Spillway of the Central Antonio José de Sucre la Macagua, located in the basin of the Caroní River of the state of Bolívar-Venezuela, administered by the company EDELCA subsidiary of CORPOELEC. The proposed model is called “Risks & Quality model for Dam Spillways Reliability”.
