ABSTRACT

The foundation slab was designed from C25/30 concrete with the reinforcement steel AIIIN. Exterior basement walls that had a thickness from 40 to 50 cm, and were the elements of the foundation box, were made from the C30/37 concrete. Slabs over the −2 and −1 floors were made as monolithic, reinforced concrete slabs, working mainly in the slab-column system. Locally, there were main and secondary structural beams, further increasing the rigidity of the structure. The underground part of the so-called “podium” was divided into several smaller parts, separated with expansion joints. Those joints were situated due to the structural conditions, i.e., the required distance between them for reinforced concrete structures and the variety of building height. The construction of this part of the building was based on the basic structural grid of 7.9 × 7.9 m, and the floor slabs were generally flat, without main beams, with a thickness from 24 to 40 cm, depending on load conditions. In addition, there was incorporated reinforcement to deal with punching shear. The main monolithic skeleton of the structure, made as a slab-column system, was stiffened by the reinforced concrete walls of elevator shafts and staircases. These elements provide the spatial stability of the specific building segment. The sections’ dimensions and the height

1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING

The object under consideration was a complex of residential and office buildings with two underground storeys. It had a diversified structure over ground level with the dominant feature in the form of the high tower. The main parts of the building were: 51 storeys, 200 m high tower building with offices, 20 storeys, 84 m high residential and office building, adjacent to the tower, and the so-called “podium” building with 4 storeys, situated above the ground level. Shopping malls and technical areas were located at the first three floors and in the fourth floor, in addition to technical rooms, a car-park was located. The underground floors were designed for service rooms and a parking lot. The construction of the complex started in 2007. In 2008 and partly in 2009 two basement levels were constructed which are the subject of this paper.
