ABSTRACT

Ostial lesions often deprive the operator of one of the sound platforms for angioplasty success; good guide catheter support. Delivery of devices is therefore fraught with technical difficulty. The positioning of an ostial stent whilst pushing on the guidewire and withdrawing the guide catheter slightly is one of intervention’s most subtle manoeuvres. The potential for difficulty in these cases encourages idiosyncrasies in technique to as great an extent as any other lesion type!
