ABSTRACT
Although there are suggestions that pharmocotherapy may have a beneficial effect in some categories of patients with bleeding peptic ulcer, there is little evidence to support systemic therapy in upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Endoscopic haemostasis using thermal methods or injection therapy has become the mainstay of the treatment of ulcer bleeding.
