ABSTRACT

Distilled lime oils differ very noticeably in aspect and odour from centrifuged oils, also known as cold-pressed oils. Almost colourless or pale yellow with a sharp and terpenic odour, distilled oils have few points in common with centrifuged oils, which are brownish green and have a fruit fragance. Arctander (1960) describes the odour of distilled oil as: ‘sharp, fresh, terpene-like, somewhat perfumey-fruity citrus-type’.
