ABSTRACT

Toxoplasma gondii infection is widespread among humans and warm-blooded animals and birds throughout the world. Approximately one-third of the entire world’s population have serological evidence of past infection of Toxoplasma. However, there is considerable variation from one geographic area to another, with seropositivity varying from 2 to 90% in the adult population. Such differences may be explained by great variance in exposure to the different sources of infection.
