ABSTRACT

FIGURE 1 shows the time histories of the pressure and the average temperature in the cylinder which were calculated based on the bond graphs when a high pressure air of 20°C, 0.62MPa blew out at time A and closed at time B. The calculation was performed under the assumption that the rate of heat transfer was constant. During the interval AB the temperature in the cylinder is uniform because the rapid discharging process can be regarded as an adiabatic process. On the other hand the rate of heat transfer during the interval BC is not constant because a natural convective flow occures due to the heat transfer between the air in the cylinder and the cylinder wall.
