ABSTRACT

Description: Viraferon is a recombinant human interferon alfa-2b. It is produced by recombinant DNA technology in Escherichia coli. The 19.3-kDa single chain nonglycosylated polypeptide is identical to the natural human molecule. It is provided either in a lyophilized form (containing 1, 3, 5, or 10 million IU active ingredient/vial) to be reconstituted before administration with the solvent provided or as a soluble formulation (at strengths varying from 6 to 50 million IU active/ml in vials or multidose pen cartridges). The product is administered by subcutaneous injection.
