ABSTRACT

Description: NovoRapid (Novolog in the U.S.) is a fast-acting human insulin analogue. It differs from the human insulin in an aspartic acid residue, replacing a proline at position 28 in the B chain. NovoRapid is produced by recombinant DNA technology in a Saccharomyces cereυisiae strain, and it is presented as a solution (100 IU/ml) for subcutaneous administration. NovoMix 30 (NovoLog Mix 70/30 in the U.S.) is a new formulation containing 30% soluble insulin aspart and 70% protamine-crystallized insulin aspart, resulting in an intermediate-acting insulin analogue.
