Health care systems worldwide have serious organizational and financial problems. In developed countries, new technology and the demands of an ageing population mean that the cost of care is rising inexorably; in the developing world, economic crises and high birth rates mean that even basic health care is an unaffordable luxury. As a consultant you are responsible for initiating expensive treatments and must understand their financial implications.
