ABSTRACT

This paper outlines a model that aims to provide a tool that responds realistically to all relevant input parameters and gives fast and accurate predictions of the volume of undersized and oversized material produced by underground ring blasting. There are models that provide a more extensive description of the blasting process such as the Hybrid Stress Blasting Model (see for example Furtney et al. 2010) than the one presented in this paper. It is the authors’ aim to provide a model that makes a compromise between computational speed and accuracy. The proposed model is intended to be more accurate than a purely empirical model, while still being fast enough to use as an engineering tool.
