ABSTRACT
Typically 1-4 weeks following infection, acute inflammatory arthritis will occur. The arthritis is commonly either mono-or oligo-articular (oligo=affecting <5 joints), affects the larger joints (e.g. knee, ankle and wrist) and is asymmetrical. the individual joints of the digit. As well as arthritis, patients may have symptoms of an enthesitis (inflammation where ligaments and tendons attach to bones). Typical sites for enthesitis include the Achilles tendon insertion, plantar fascia and elbow epicondyles. Extra-articular symptoms can occur and are listed in Table 1.
