ABSTRACT
Abnormalities of colour depend on the transparency of the nail, its attachments and the character of the underlying tissue. If the causes are exogenous, such as occupational exposure or topical medication, the discoloration tends to follow the contour of the proximal nail fold. With endogenous causes, the changes correspond to the shape of the lunula (Figure 14).
