ABSTRACT
Definition Pits are small erosions in the nail surface. It is arbitrary to provide a number that can be accepted as not pathological, but to find a total of five in the otherwise normal nails of both hands is common. Pits may help in the diagnosis of psoriasis, especially when they are deep and irregularly shaped, but they are not pathognomonic of any disease (Figure 7).
