ABSTRACT
Despite the widespread success of total hip arthroplasty, (THA), approximately 1% per year will fail, often requiring revision surgery (1). Given that approximately 125,000 THAs are performed annually in the United States, surgeons can expect that 1250 to 2000 revisons will need to be performed yearly (1). This chapter focuses upon evaluation and treatment of the failed femoral stem.
