ABSTRACT
Neurosurgeons and craniofacial surgeons were among the first surgical specialists to research and develop technology for computer-assisted surgery (58). Accuracy requirements and potential major complications in many procedures led surgeons and computer scientists to work together in order to implement new surgical devices designed to improve reliability and consistency of difficult surgical procedures.
