ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This paper is part of a Nordic research project entitled Bridge Life Cycle Optimisation (ETSI). The research work carried out in the project is based on the effective inspection and management systems developed in the Nordic countries. The main aim of the project is to create appropriate tools for decision-making and for resolving practical problems related to bridges. For example, the project will provide basis for choosing the proper bridge type or material, taking into account long-term effects on a detailed level. The paper focuses on the rehabilitations of Finnish road bridges in the years 1995-2005.
