ABSTRACT
The appraisal of a structure for its suitability for the application of cathodic protection will be part of the process of a general condition assessment and repair design. The first aim of that process will be to ensure the safety of the structure, in terms of both structural integrity and the risk of anything falling off the structure because of deterioration. Health issues such as the presence of asbestos and its disturbance during the repair work may also require assessment.
