ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Hydrodynamic-numerical simulation of free-surface flow is a key element for the implementation of flood management concepts in urban areas.

In this context, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) turned out to be a fertile platform for flood related data analysis and essential for model setup as well as further processing of hydraulic results (e.g. flood-hazard mapping). In recent years, there have been various ambitions to integrate flood relevant geodata and simulation components into online flood information systems. Effects of technical measures, precautionary sanctions and operational short-term strategies can be more comprehensibly illustrated.
