ABSTRACT
Chapters 3 and 4 provide a relatively comprehensive discussion of AE/MS field and laboratory techniques, and the associated instrumentation. However, a number of special topics, not discussed in detail earlier, and considered useful to the reader are included here. These topics include material on the following: geophone calibration, monitoring facility optimization and calibration, velocity measurement, waveguides, amplitude distribution analysis, pattern recognition, source parameter analysis, moment tensor analysis, Kaiser effect studies, and related NDT techniques. Although the listed topics are not considered in depth, suitable references are included to allow the reader to obtain more detailed information.
