ABSTRACT
A survey was performed in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) from public hospitals of João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. Nine ICUs were investigated, which represent 23,8% of the units existing in the hospitals of Paraíba. Sample consisted of 119 professionals such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and nursing technicians, using the following inclusion criteria: 6 hours minimum length of stay in the department and the formal acceptance to participate of the research.
