ABSTRACT

Since Sir William Herschel at UK has identified infrared radiation in 1800, there were many applications given to it, among them Ray Lawson introduced it in the medical field to study human body surface temperature distribution. It is a medical imaging modality that is non-contact, non-invasive, non-ionizing, costless and fast, which allows the real-time study of the physiology, directly related to the peripheral blood flow and autonomic nervous system. It can be used as an objective complimentary diagnostic and treatment method (Ring & Ammer, 2012).
