ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an automated checking system in order to solve the problem. It discusses a novel algorithm based on the local statistical characteristics of label image pixels used to match the label image with the known template. The chapter describes a hardware system to acquire the label images. The hardware part uses ARM as the core control device including an image acquisition circuit, an LCD display circuit and an Ethernet interface circuit. The software algorithm part includes image preprocessing part and label image recognition part based on the method of feature extraction and image matching. The chapter also discusses a system for automatically checking the medicine bottle label in the preparation process. There is a variety of methods to get the information on the medicine bottle labels. The hardware circuit part of the automated checking system for labels of medicine bottle is mainly used to acquire label images.
