ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: This paper focuses on presenting causes of activated sludge bulking, as well as methods that can prevent or eliminate this disadvantageous phenomenon. In some cases, technological and operational treatments are sufficient, however, frequently the usage of appropriate chemicals, which have a negative impact on the biological activity of the activated sludge, is necessary. For this reason, alternatives, such as usage or addition of bio-specimens or airborne substances, is more frequently being sought.
