ABSTRACT

Blanking process is one of the most common techniques in high volume production in industry. Some small product components are obtained using blanking technique. The operation consists of a cutting process with the shear stress, and the punch and the die get close and made the rupture of the sheet. Lots of factors, including the geometry of the punch and die, punch rate, lubrication, clearance between two parts (blanking clearance) will really affect the quality of the rupture surface. In long history, the evaluation of the industry blanking quality is mainly based on empirical knowledge, which can lead some error procedures, so a proper and accurate approach becomes more necessary, which can give a more reasonable physical explanation of the forming process.
