ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Droughts impacts are causing frequent economical damage in south-eastern Europe, especially in agriculture. In the majority of countries in the region drought management is still mainly focused on crisis management. The development of an effective drought monitoring system requires that stakeholders in the region synchronize data dissemination, methodological approaches and tools to support integrated drought management. This paper presents an overview of drought monitoring in the frame of Drought Management Center for South-Eastern Europe, reviews some methodological and technical advances of DMCSEE platform, monitoring tools, drought warnings and forecasts as well as integration of combined multiple layers for better regional drought management.
