ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of the global economy, resources, environment, population and social problems have become increasingly prominent, causing the global environment changing constantly. As the main cause of the earth’s land surface change, land use and land cover change (LUCC) is an important aspect of global environmental change. The rapid development of economy intensifies people to utilize the land resources, causing the land cover changed to some extent. It leads to the global and even regional environment change. Therefore, in the 1990s, the International Geosphere Biosphere Program (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Program (IHDP) formally put forward the LUCC research program, designed to monitor, explanation, simulation and prediction of the world and different regional scale of land use and land cover changes. Land use/ cover research as a hot topic of current research on global environmental change, especially the research on how to allocate land resources scientifically and reasonably based on the limited land resources, and at the same time coordinate the global natural environment and social economic development to realize the goal of sustainable development and has been a top priority in the study of land. Land use refers to the use of land, it is the human that according to the natural characteristics of the land and certain economic and
social purpose, take a series of biological and technical measures for long-term or periodic land management and governance reform activities. Land cover refers to the state of the land surface coverage, not only including the surface vegetation, but also various artificial mulch and transform objects, and is the total sum of the earth’s surface vegetation cover and artificial mulch. Land use and land cover have a close relationship. Land use is the external driving force of land cover change. Land cover, in turn, affects the way of land use, they both form a unified whole in the surface.
