ABSTRACT

The main slope failure modes include collapse, landslide, etc. with features like great deformation and discontinuous. The Particle Discrete Element Method (PDEM) can simulate these features well just through interaction between particles without pre-defined constitutive relation or presupposing sliding surface. Currently, PDEM is mainly applied in the analysis of homogeneous slope like soil slope, and few reports about PDEM on jointed rock slope appear (Wang et al. 2003). Based on this, the paper conducts research on jointed rock slope stability by incorporating SRM and GIM into PDEM, and the structural surface is described as smooth joint.
