ABSTRACT

In the present paper, the viscous free-surface flow around a ship sailing straightly along a bank is simulated. The software ICEMCFD is used to generate the grid, and FLUENT is used to solve the flow problem. The analysis is focused on the bankeffect related hydrodynamics, i.e., the sway force and yaw moment acting on the ship. The influences of ship-bank distance, water depth and bank sloping angle on the hydrodynamics are studied.
