ABSTRACT

An analysis of slamming induced responses may require an accurate prediction of not only the slamming loads but also the conditions under which slamming occurs. It is very important for the ship designer to have some estimation of the frequency of slamming and the statistical averages and deviations of the pressure magnitudes as a result of irregular sea states, to design the essential main load-carry members and bottom plating to sustain the loading conditions for the design speed of the ship under a given sea state. This work focuses on the frequency of slamming of a chemical tanker under irregular waves.
