ABSTRACT
Other important factor to be considered when designing PTOs is their complexity. Complex systems involve large quantity of components and interactions between them having implications on the installation and operation costs, which increase with the system’s scale, but also with the type of energy converter. For example, some energy converters are submerged (Lin et al., 2013) requiring more compactness on the PTO and higher reliabilities.
