ABSTRACT

Thus, December 2013 saw 14 separate instances of hurricane force winds over the North Atlantic. The stormy weather that affected Europe began on approximately 17th December 2013, when an area of low pressure from the Atlantic brought wind gusts of more than 130 km/h to the west of Ireland, Scotland and England. After this, the cyclone Dirk (formed on 21st of December and dissipated on 28th of December) affected Western Europe from Iberia to Iceland.
