ABSTRACT

One of the main failure modes that characterize FRP strengthened members is debonding failure, which is mainly governed by the weak adhesive layer that can be subjected to both shear and peeling stresses (Agarwal et al. 2014 and Porter 2002). For this reason, studies have been carried out assessing the technical performance of the adhesive joints in the joining of a composite material with aluminum and steel (Jin-Hwe et al. 2006) or provided an analytical and experimental model to estimate the resistance of the adhesive joint when the composite material and the steel are joined together (Osnes et al. 2009 and Boyd et al. 2008).
