ABSTRACT

The aim of the present study is to investigate how the potential flow-approximation of the freesurface affects both resistance and self-propulsion parameters with respect to a full RANS solution. A particular hull is examined and numerical experiments have been performed at model and full scale in order to detect probable variations. All computations are based on codes that have been developed in the Laboratory for Ship and Marine Hydrodynamics (LSMH) of the National Technical Universtity of Athens (NTUA).
