1 INTRODUCTION

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission and the subsequent global warming attracted more and more attentions. As one of the biggest emission sources, shipping industry is under greater emission reduction pressure from the public (Lindstad et al. 2013). How to meet the energy consumption and pollution reduction targets, without affecting voyage safety, has been a realistic urgent problem for the shipping industry.
