ABSTRACT

The general goal of optimal structural design theory is to find the structure, of which one of the definite mechanical characteristics (aim function) attains its optimal value, while the other obeys the prescribed constraints. In the classical optimal design problem there is only one decision maker, or designer. Its options are the shapes, sizes, material properties and mutual positions of structural members. These options are called design parameters. The conditions of exploitations and external actions on the structure are to be prescribed.
