ABSTRACT
Ning analyzed Shigong Ritual Dance of Zhuang from the perspective of multicultural structure in the Shigong Ritual Dance of Zhuang and Its Cultural Characteristics[2]; Wei Lichun studied the characteristics of the primitive religion sacrificial dance of Zhuang, including folk customs, nationality and territoriality, stability and inheritance, etc., as well as fitness entertainment value, in her Cultural Characteristics and Fitness Entertainment Value of the Primitive Religion Sacrificial Dance of Zhuang in the Hongshui River Basin[3]; He Weidong analyzed the diverse historical and cultural connotation and functions of the Zhuang people’s throwing embroidered ball, and probed into how its cultural diversity integrates in the contemporary life in his From Entertainment to Athletics: on the Evolution of the Zhuang people’s Throwing Embroidered Ball[4]. From the angle of ethnology, however, the detailed description and analysis of the “Dachoulei” ritual are seldom studied specially. Therefore, the research group plans to intensively study the “Dachoulei” ritual of Shigong Ritual Dance, with traditions and local characteristics, widely spread in the regions of Guangxi Zhuang, to excavate the combined development of dance
1 INTRODUCTION
Shigong Ritual Dance “Dachoulei” of Zhuang has been widely spread in the regions of Zhuang nationality, namely, in the middle, south, northwest and northeast of Guangxi, and is also called “Living Fossil” of Zhuang ancient dance. It has become the main content of Guangxi folk festivals, having cultural characteristics of the ritual itself and elements of folk sports culture. It was rooted in people’s life, and has been spread and developed in the civil society. It is the accumulation of the Zhuang people on the level of cultural psychology. In today’s traditional festivals, it not only plays a traditional role of folk activities, but also demonstrates the new connotation of the modern social life; not only keeps the everlasting charm of traditional culture, but also leads the new aesthetic orientation.
