ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Banlangen (Radix isatidis) is an herbal medicine, and it grows in various parts of China. It can be classified into North Radix isatidis and South Radix isatidis. Dierent regions have dierent varieties; these species are dierent in terms of shape and biological characteristics with geographical variation. With the rising demand of users all over the world, more and more popularly used herbal plants are now grown in agricultural fields. This article provides a brief review on the morphological and biological characteristics of wild and cultivated varieties of Radix in China, so as to provide some reference for Radix planting.
